monday morning musings: times of transit

My favorite time to be with friends is in the car on a long drive.  We’re not so focused on where we’re going or what we have to do once we’re there, rather, all of us in this small confined space.

Honesty seems to bleed between the yellow lines.  Eyes on the road, ears on each other.  We catch one another up on stories that have fallen through the cracks, share secrets we can’t even breathe out the window.
Pauses between conversations and ideas are measured in three and a half minute intervals: we only stop talking to begin singing that one song from freshman year that reminds of us why we’re all friends, anyway.
These memories are stored in the ignition and this safe feeling is rekindled with the turn of the key.

happy moments to share outside the confines of an automobile, too.
