Scandal of the week: Grabby dudes.
First off, I’d never consider you a “star, Donald. Just a creepy old guy with a lot of money and a loud mouth. But even if you were a star, no, you can’t just grab whatever you want. If you ever pulled that kind of BS with me or any of my girls, I’d slap you in the face and you’d be LUCKY it wasn’t a kick in the balls.
…And don’t doubt for a second that I wouldn’t react this way, because I have, in fact, done exactly this, defending either myself or one of my girls… Quite a few times, actually.
My response in these situations has always been proportional. If you verbally harass me or one of my girls, you will get verbally harassed back… loudly…from a fiery-eyed Jersey girl who doesn’t put up with BS like this.
If you physically harass me or one of my girls, my response will be physical. I’ve never done anything more aggressive than a slap in the face or a very hard push away, but people like you certainly deserve worse.
Twice I’ve had guys stick their hand up my skirt. And I wheeled around in fury, with a slap loaded, as well as a hard push away and some choice unladylike words. I’ve also had a couple of guys grab a boob. Again, met by slaps, pushes and curse words.
I asked a bouncer to escort me out of a club to my car once because of a couple of guys said some really disgusting things to me, and their hovering made me really nervous and scared. And that’s certainly not the only time some dude(s) said something awful to me – I just felt extra threatened and vulnerable.
Now I don’t dress provocatively. I barely ever wear any makeup besides lip gloss. And I don’t say flirtatious things either. I make jokes; I don’t flirt. And yes, I love dancing. But I certainly wasn’t twerking or grinding in any clubs back in my college days. My dance moves are pretty PG… Maybe PG-13 occasionally.
Disclaimer: I’m not saying that girls who DO dress or dance provocatively, wear makeup, and flirt are “asking for it”. Certainly not.
What I am saying is that certain types of guys are just insanely sexually inappropriate and/or aggressive, whether you’re wearing a mini skirt and heels OR a t-shirt and jeans.
And these are just MY experiences. There’s no need to go through all the examples of the times I’ve defended my girlfriends from creepy dudes.
The epidemic of rape and sexual assault on campuses across the country is outrageous. I would have liked to think that the millennial males would be more enlightened by now. But what can we expect when misogynists like Donald Trump are actually voted to be the Republican presidential candidate? People like him set an unconscionable example for our young American men.
My name is Suzanne Jacobetz, aka The Cursing Gourmet, and I am Bridget’s older (not necessarily wiser) cousin. I’m Generation X all the way and do not enjoy it when I hear 80s/90s rock on classic rock stations. I live in the mountains in Colorado with Mike, my husband of 10 years, 15+ miles from a grocery store. It’s a very quiet, peaceful life, or at least it used to be: a year ago we had our first kiddo, a sweetie pie named Isabelle ❤️
